dignitas beat VP to win EPICENTER 2016.10.23

dignitas came from behind to beat Virtus.pro 2-1 and win EPICENTER: Moscow (11-16 on Nuke, 16-5 on Cobblestone and Mirage).

Nuke was dignitas' map pick, so it was surprising to see Virtus.pro dominate proceedings right from the start, having won the pistol round as Terrorists despite losing two men early on, with Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas getting a total of four kills.

After giving up both eco rounds, dignitas won the first gun round, courtesy of a trio of kills from Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen in hut, and they twice brought the deficit to a minimum. However, Virtus.pro regained control of the game and closed out the half with a commanding 11-4 lead, powered by an in-form Paweł "byali" Bieliński.

The second half began with dignitas taking the first three rounds, with Virtus.pro then taking a string of three rounds themselves thanks to back-to-back quad kills from Filip "NEO" Kubski.

With no room for error, dignitas ran a perfect A execute to bring Virtus.pro's streak to an end and followed it up with three more rounds to bring the scoreline to an 11-14 deficit. But Kubski would punish the Danes once again, getting a trio of kills to put his team on map point, with the Polish team eventually taking the map, 16-11.

Next up was Cobblestone, a map Virtus.pro are traditionally very strong on. However, dignitas came out with guns blazing as they stormed to a 4-0 lead on the Terrorist side thanks to some fast pushes that caught their opponents off-guard.

Virtus.pro then adjusted their defense and took a string of three rounds to cut the deficit to a minimum, but the rest of the half was onesided as dignitas limited their opponents to a shocking four rounds.

There was more misery heading Virtus.pro's way, as Ruben "RUBINO" Villarroel picked up a trio of kills in the pistol round to further enlarge dignitas' lead, with the Danish team winning four of the next five rounds en route to a convincing 16-5 finish.

Mirage was the decider map, and it ended up being a very lopsided affair. Virtus.pro had no response to dignitas' defensive setup and, more importantly, were losing all the aim duels, with the scoreline blooming to a 12-1 advantage in the Danish team's favour.

Bieliński then picked up an ace to give Virtus.pro some breathing room, but they were unable to follow it up as Villarroel landed four kills during an A retake.

Virtus.pro won the first two rounds on the CT side, but then they got punished by big individual rounds from René "cajunb" Borg and Emil "Magiskb0Y" Reif as dignitas locked down the map 16-5 to win their second international title in just two weeks.
